It’s time for you to help us decide who should be the winner of this week’s High School Athlete of the Week.  We have two state champions, and a running back that would like to join them in two weeks, as our candidates for this week's McDonald's Athlete of the Week.

Senior John Hassett, of the George Stevens Academy cross country team, took home the individual state championship on Saturday with a time of 15:56.12 in the Class C ranks.  The time for Hassett was the best in the competition by 14 seconds and helped the Eagles' runner to his second straight individual state championship.

Charlotte Messer, the senior captain for the Camden Hills soccer team, put home the game winner in overtime as she helped give the Windjammers to a win by a score of 1-0.  The goal was Messer's 26th of the season and tied the school record that was set by Emma Gutheinz.  For her career at Camden Hills, Messer had 67 goals and 50 assists.  The state title was the first in program history.

Brewer running back Trey Wood helped power the Witches into the North Region title game with 299 yards on 40 carries in the 44-34 victory over Cony.  In addition to the almost 300 yards on the ground, Wood also scored twice and will look to continue his strong play into the championship on against Brunswick this week.

The decision is up to you to choose who you think is the High School Athlete of the Week between these three great performers!
