The Ellsworth girls basketball team fell to the Hermon Hawks, Monday, December 17th in a game played at Hermon High School. With the loss, Ellsworth falls to 2-2 on the season, and Hermon improves to 3-1.

Ellsworth took an early lead, 1-0 with 6:24 left in the 1st Quarter when Taylor White sank 1 of 2 free throws. With 1:48 left in the 1st, Morgan Card put in a layup, and Ellsworth led 7-5. But with .3 seconds left in the 1st Quarter, Hermon's Raychel Alley hit a three pointer, was fouled and sank the free throw, resulting in a 4 point play, and the score at the end of the 1st Quarter was Hermon 13, Ellsworth 11.

In the 2nd Quarter Hermon hit 2 3's, one by Jenna Crouse with 4:36 left giving Hermon a 23-16 lead, and Raychel Alley hit another 3, with 1:40 left and Hermon led 28-22. Ellsworth's Sydni Palmer came off the bench, replacing the injured Maddie Card, and hit two 3's for Ellsworth, and at the end of the 1st Half it was Hermon 32 Ellsworth 22.

In the 3rd Quarter, Ellsworth cut the lead to 4, and it was Hermon 38-34 with 4:35 left in the 3rd, after a Taylor White basket. But everytime Ellsworth got close, it seemed that Hermon's Raychel Alley would answer. She buried another 3 and the Hermon lead was 41-34.

In the 4th Quarter, Annika Firestone hit a 3 for Ellsworth with 6:18 left, and the lead was Hermon 44-39, but that was the closest Ellsworth came in the 4th Quarter.

Hermon's Raychel Alley finished the night with 24 points, hitting 4 three pointers, and going a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line. Ellsworth's leading scorers were Taylor White with 9, Sydni Palmer with 8, Morgan Card with 8 and Annika Firestone with 8.

Ellsworth's next game is Friday night, when they take on George Stevens Academy, a game that may be heard on WDEA AM 1370 and WDEA Internet Radio. Tip-off time is at 7 PM with the pregame starting at 6:40.
