Joe Harasymiak is not the only football coach leaving Orono. Defensive coordinator Corey Heatherman is leaving to take the DC job at Jame Madison University.

Hetherman headed up Maine's 'black hole' defense that got so much attention. The Bears defense led the nation in rush defense and led the CAA in six defensive stat catagories. He had been the coordinator for the past three years.

At JMU, Hetherman joins the staff of their new head coach, Curt Cignetti. The Dukes hired Cignetti just last week as their head coach. Cignetti had been the head coach at Elon University.

"I'm extremely excited to add Corey Hetherman to the staff as our defensive coordinator," Cignetti said. "He has a track record for success at Maine. They played great defense this year, being number one against the run. His scheme presented a lot of problems in preparation. He's extremely knowledgeable and comes highly recommended. Corey is an excellent recruiter and he'll do a great job for us." - JMU Press Release
