If you're going to see the Lombardi Trophy in Bangor on Saturday afternoon, you should give a big thank you to the students at Bangor Christian for the assist.

Student Zack Chadbourne organized and effort to compile letters from himself and classmates to be sent to the New England Patriots and owner Robert Kraft, that eventually swayed the team to bring the hardware to the city of Bangor on April 1st.

Bangor Christian School Headmaster Jeff Benjamin said that the school announced on Thursday morning that the efforts by Zack and the students had resulted in the appearance of the Lombardi this weekend.

"I received a hand-written letter through inter-Campus mail, written by [Chadbourne].  He basically said is there anyway we can get the trophy to come up and visit the school.  I wrote him a letter back and said if you lead the effort I will make sure the Patriots get your letters. That's all that it took," said Benjamin.

The fifth-grader then inspired his classmates to compile all the letters to send to the franchise.  Benjamin said that Pastor Pencil Boone has some connections with the Patriots and used that to send them to the organization. He also pointed out that there is a note being send to the school as well in the coming days from the Pats.

There was some doubt that the Lombardi would come to Maine after Paul LePage had criticism on the team that also prompted mayors of Portland, Brewer, and Bangor to write letters to bring the award to the Pine Tree State.

"My dad told me that Bangor had once [had the trophy in the city] before and he said that it would a good idea to do it for my school, so that's how I got the idea," said Chadbourne.

He also said that he wrote about how big a fan he is of the team in his letter that was received by the New England franchise. Chadbourne is quite sure that he'll be the first in the line on Saturday, but will be there. He said that Dont'a Hightower is his favorite current Patriots player
