About 25 percent of elderly people nationwide don't have any more natural teeth, according to studies. The website HealthGrove decided to take a look at the 25 states that have the most toothless seniors. And yes, Maine is on the list.

About 17.5 percent of Mainers 65 years and older don't have any teeth, putting Maine at No. 15 on the list of states with the most toothless seniors. You can check out the rest of the list here.

But the numbers are no laughing matter. While some tooth loss naturally occurs among older people, it's also exacerbated by poor dental hygiene and a lack of access to dental care, according to the study.
