Former UMaine goalie Jimmy Howard did not play in Monday's win against the Bruins. It was decided just before gametime that Jonas Gustavsson would get the start because of a hand injury to Howard.

According to Wings GM Ken Holland, Howard bruised his catching glove hand in Detroit's game on Saturday. It is not a serious injury and Holland said Howard could be back for their next game.

Howard had played in all five games before Monday's 3-2 win over the B's.
