The New England Patriots and Chris Long have agreed to a deal that brings the 31-year-old free agent defensive end to Foxboro. Looks like he's part of the plan after the trade of DE Chandler Jones to Arizona.

Jones is the son of Hall of Famer Howie Long and was a #2 overall draft pick back in 2008. After several stellar years with the St. Louis Rams, Long battled injuries over the last two years and his salary cap hit was too much for the Rams and they cut him a couple of weeks ago.

ESPN is reporting the deal with the Patriots is a one year agreement.
