The Husson University football team completed its regular season with a 42-14 win over Mt. Ida College and and then celebrated a second straight ECFC championship.

Coach Gabby Price and his Eagles finish 7-0 in conference and 9-1 overall. The NCAA playoff show is Sunday at 5:30pm. That's when the Eagles will find out who and where they will play next week.

Senior tailback John Smith made the most of his final regular season home game. 38 carries, 287 yards and 5 touchdowns. He now owns the record for most career rushing yards in New England, regardless of division (6.597 yards). Smith also moves into 5th place nationally for career yards in Division III.

QB Corey Brandon had a solid day, 15-for-22, 142 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, the Eagles defense held Mt. Ida to minus-one rushing yards and 186 passing yards. The Mustangs scored two TDs on trick plays in the third quarter.

Elvin Suazo Jr. led the Husson defense with nine tackles and a sack.
