The Husson Eagles are back on top of the North Atlantic Conference standings thanks to Friday night's 69-64 win over Castleton. The battle of the top two NAC teams drew a full house at Newman Gymnasium and crowd got a show.

The Eagles grabbed an early lead and held it all night. But that lead never got higher than eight points. Both teams had been averaging better than 85 points a game but defense was the story in this one. A Corey Wood steal, tipping the ball ahead to Trevon Butler with 22-seconds left turned out to be the big play.

Eli Itkin led a balanced Husson scoring attack with 12 points. The Eagles move into first place in the NAC with a 9-1 record an 15-2 overall. Perhaps most importantly, the Eagles sweep the season series with Castleton in case of a tie-breaker is needed to determine home court for the playoffs.

Castleton(VT) drops to 9-2 and 11-7.

In the women's game, Castleton scored a 62-55 win over Husson. The Spartans are now 11-0 and the top team in the NAC. Husson drops to 7-3.

Vicky McIntrye led Husson with 15 points.
