The Husson Eagles lost a back-and-forth thriller to Alfred University 35-28 in New York Saturday afternoon. It's the second straight year the Eagles have lost to the Saxons by a touchdown on opening day.

For three quarters of play, this game was as close as it could be, tied 21-21.

Alfred then scored two straight 4th quarter touchdowns, only to see the Eagles score one and get the ball back with about 90 seconds to play. Husson could not get that last score.

Eagles junior running back John Smith rushed for 153 yard on 22 carries. He did not score a TD.

But QB Corey Brandon did. In fact, he scored three times. Twice on the ground and one touchdown pass.

Saxons QB Tyler Johnson threw for 233 yards and two TDs.

Husson has a bye week and will host Dean College from Boston on September 16th.
