HUSSON HAWKINSPortland native and former UMaine Black Bear Kristie Hawkins was introduced Tuesday as the new Husson University head softball coach.Hawkins has spent the last six years at the Colorado School of Mines which is an NCAA division II school. Her first three years in Colorado was spent as the assistant coach before taking over as the head coach the last three seasons. Each of those three years her teams won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season championship, and was named coach of the year in 2011 and 2013.

The Husson softball team has won five straight conference championships and won its first NCAA tournament game last season under former Head Coach Amanda Bourgoin.

While at UMaine Hawkins played first base and outfield helping the Bears win the America East championship in 2004 to earn an NCAA tournament bid.
