Husson Teams Move Into NAC Semis
The Husson Eagles scored two NAC quarterfinal playoff wins Tuesday night. The top seeded men defeated Johnson State College 88-55. The #4 seeded women downed New England College 77-62.
For coach Warren Caruso and his men's team, the win means hosting the conference semi-finals and championship game this weekend. The Eagles will be the #1 seed with a record of 24-2.
In Tuesday night's win over Johnson State Phil Leighton led with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Trevon Butler went 15 and 9.
The women's team handled the Pilgrims of NEC 77-62 and now coach Kissy Walker's team meets top ranked Castleton Friday night in Vermont for the semi-final round.
In the Tuesday night quarterfinal, freshman Chandler Guerrette (Presque Isle HS) scored 21 points and dished out 7 assists. Rebecca Young score 17 and hauled down 7 reboounds. Victoria McIntyre had 16 and 7.
The Eagles are now 15-11.
#3 Maine Maritime Academy women's team won its quarterfinal matchup with #6 UMaine Farmington 59-53. The Mariners play #2 seed Colby-Sawyer in the semis.
