Newly acquired Red Sox pitcher Drew Pomeranz deserved better. He pitched six innings of two run, four hit ball and lost the game. The Sox offense was the biggest problem in last night's 4-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers.

Sox batters left 11 runners on base. They were 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Menawhile, Pomeranz made one mistake. Former Sox shortstop Jose Iglesias took him deep for a sixth inning 2-run homer.

Joe Kelly and Clay Buchholz each gave up a run out of the bullpen.

The frustrating loss, coupled with another Baltimore win, puts the Sox 2.5 games behind the O's in the AL East.
