Red Sox GM Ben Cherington says the team will not concede the 2014 season - yet. The Sox start their post all star break schedule Friday night against the Kansas City Royals, trailing in the AL East by 9.5 games.

Cherington spent Thursday telling the media in Boston that the front office 'will do whatever it takes to make the team as good as possible, as quickly as possible'.

Cherington believes the current Sox team is capable of being better than several teams in the East and says there is room for a second half comeback.

He also took the blame for the Sox having their worst first half season in 20 years.

The trade deadline is July 31st.
