South Portland's Jon Gillies stopped 24 of 25 shots as the USA Hockey Junior Evaluation Camp ended with a 5-1 USA win over Canada. Gillies is one of three goalies attempting to make the team that will play in the World Junior Championship in Sweden in late December.

Gillies is a goalie for the Providence College Friars. He won Hockey East Rookie-of-the-Year honors last season, posting a 17-12-6 record with a 2.08 GAA.

Gillies and other top junior age players spend last week in Lake Placid, New York at the USA evaluation camp - a tryout camp leading up to forming the roster for the national junior team. He was the backup goalie for Team USA last year.

Gilllies is 19-years-old and is a third round draft pick of the Calgary Flames.
