It's official now...Jon Lester will be the opening day starter for the Red Sox against the New York Yankees. Manager John Farrell told reporters in Florida Wednesday morning of his decision.

In the afternoon Lester went out and pitched 4 shutout innings against the Miami Marlins in his final spring tuneup. He struck out four, allowed just two hits and no walks.

Clay Buchholz will be game two starter, Ryan Dempster game three, then Felix Doubront and John Lackey in games four and five next week.

Lester will become the first Sox pitcher to start three consecutive opening days since Pedro Martinez started seven straight openers from 1998-2004
