Jackie Bradley Jr was named the American league Player of the Month by Major League Baseball on Thursday afternoon.

Bradley went on a tear during the month, which included a 29 game hitting streak that was snapped last week.  During the month of May he hit .381 with 8 HRs, and 24 RBIs.

The Red Sox center-fielder became the first Boston player to win the award since Dustin Pedroia in 2011.  Xander Bogaerts and David Ortiz also received votes for the player of the month voting.
