Knuckleballer Steve Wright threw seven scoreless innings in his first start of the season as the Red Sox shutdown the Detroit Tigers 6-0.

After a bit of a struggle in the first inning, Wright settled in and gave up just two hits, walked threee and struck out six.

Hector Velazquez and Brandon Workman worked the last two innings.

Workman was called up during the day from Paawtucket because Drew Pomeranz was put on the 10 day DL.

On offense, J.D. Martinez clubbed his 20th home run as part of a two hit night.

Xander Bogaerts hit a solo homer.

The Sox are a season-best 23 games over .500 at 42-19.
