Red Sox manager John Farrell told MLB Radio Network today that Junichi Tazawa will be the new closer while Andrew Bailey and Joel Hanrahan get healthy. Tazawa has one career save.

Bailey is already on the DL. Hanrahan left Monday night's game with a forearm strain.

Farrell says the 26-year-old righty Tazawa is better suited to pitch on consecutive days in ninth inning situations than 38-year-old Koji Uehara. He wants Uehara to stay in that eigth inning role.

Tazawa has been very good, in 14 1/3 innings he has 18 strikeouts, 3 walks and given up 11 hits.

If Hanrahan needs to go on the DL, only two relievers are available on the current 40-man roster...Alfredo Aceves and Daniel Bard.

Yikes!!!
