Happy 55th birthday John Tortorella...and good luck coaching the Vancouver Canucks. Multiple sources say the former Maine Black Bear player is poised to get the open Canucks job.

The Vancouver Sun newspaper says "John Tortorella is not only poised to be the first American to coach the Canucks, he's from Boston, no less. Yes, Boston. Home of the Bruins, the team that swiped the Stanley Cup from under the Canuck noses two years ago.".

Glad to see folks in Vancouver are over that series!

If and when Tortorella gets the gig, it will be quite the ironic twist. Former Vancouver coach. Alain Vigneault got the boot and ended up as NY Rangers coach. Tortorella got the boot in NY and winds up in Vancouver.

Tortorella and his brother Jim played for UMaine back in the 1970's.
