Former UMaine wide receiver Derrick Johnson just wanted a shot in the NFL and he got that with the Patriots. However injuries might have cost him that chance.New England announced Monday that Johnson has been waived and replaced on the roster by former New Hampshire tight end Kyle Auffrey who has been out of school for four years and working to hook on with a team. Johnson posted on his personal Facebook page Monday night that "injuries are part of the game, just gotta get healthy."

The NFL is a league that has many trying to secure a job and unless your a player taken in the draft or a top player on their team you must be able to get on the field or risk losing your spot as Johnson found out.

As a senior for the Black Bears last season Johnson caught 60 passes for 608 yards and 2 touchdowns.
