South Portland native and Providence College rookie goalie Jon Gillies has been named the 2013 Hockey Commissioners' Association National Division One Rookie of the Year.

In his freshman year for the Friars, Gillies had a 17-12-6 record and a 2.08 GAA - the second best GAA in Providence history. Gillies also becomes the first Friar to win the national rookie of the year honor.
