After losing their opening round NAC Tourney game Friday morning, the Husson Eagles have fought their way back with three wins to force a winner-take-all title game Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles beat Thomas College 1-0 and then beat New England College 9-1 to stay alive. The championship game is Sunday at noon. The winner advances to the NCAA regionals.

In the circle, sophomore Jen Jones has been spectacular. She pitched both games Saturday afternoon, giving up one run, four hits, three walks and 16 strikeouts.

Jones has pitched all four tourney games (3-1), giving a total of three runs. She has thrown 385 pitches (266 strikes).

In the game to force the 'if necessary' game on Sunday, the Eagles banged out 13 hits to get their nine runs. Kylie Kennedy slammed a home run and drove in three runs. Olivia Smith had four hits.

The win was the 20th of the season for Husson (20-13). The Pilgrims of NEC are now 17-22.

NOTE: The Eagles and Pilgrims are the top two seeds in the tourney field. The NCAA selection show for Division III softball is Monday afternoon.
