The Kansas City Royals used the long ball to take game 1 of the ALCS beating Baltimore 8-6 in 10 innings.With game tied at 5 in the top of the 10th inning Alex Gordon capped a 4-hit night by blasting a go ahead homerun, three batters later Mike Moustakas would add a 2-run homer making it an 8-5 score. Baltimore countered with a run in the bottom of the inning but couldn't get any closer.

The Royals become the first team in Major League history to win four extra inning games in a single postseason.

Portland Maine's Ryan Flaherty had the best game at the plate for the Orioles with 3 hits, 2 rbi, and a run scored.

Game 2 of the series is today with coverage starting at 3pm on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket, followed by game one of the NLCS between the Cardinals and Giants at 7pm.
