As senior pitchers Peter Kemble from Bangor and Jack Corey from Brewer dueled for seven innings at Mansfield Stadium Monday afternoon both teams knew one run could make a difference. And it did.

George Payne drove home a run in the 3rd inning and it turned out to be the only run in a 1-0 win for the Rams over the Witches.

Bangor improves to 2-0 while Brewer is now 1-1.

Kemble pitched the complete game four hit shutout, striking out nine, walking two while throwing just 85 pitches.

Corey pretty much matched Kemble all day but took the loss. He gave up six hits over six innings.

SOFTBALL: The Rams beat the Witches 5-1 on the softball field. Bangor improves to 2-0. Brewer is 0-2.
