Knee Injury Puts Spikes On IR
The New England Patriots have had more than their share of season ending injuries this year and the list got a little longer with the team announcing Brandon Spikes was placed on IR.A knee injury that has bothered him all season is what will keep him out of the playoffs. Reports out of Boston indicate that surgery is not necessary but a second opinion will be sought. The move puts an end to the season for Spikes and possibly his time in Foxborough as he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.
Spikes was having his best season as a pro with a team leading and career high 134 tackles. In six postseason games with the Pats he racked up 45 tackles. His loss means the team will have to use Dane Fletcher and rookie Jamie Collins to fill his spot.
