The first meeting between the University of Maine and Dayton women's basketball teams was not a good one for the Black Bears as they lose a 58-37 decision to the Flyers. The loss came in the opening game of the Gulf Coast Showcase, a three day holiday tournament taking place in Florida.

Even thought the Bears are in much warmer weather, their offense went ice cold. Maine shot just 21% form the floor including 5 for 24 behind the 3-point arch. The Bears also turned the ball over 17 times and the Flyers stole the ball away 7 more times.

Sigi Koizar once again led Maine with 16 points while Liz Wood added a double-double in the losing cause with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Next up for the Bears is an 11am game against the loser of Stanford and Missouri State.
