The LA Angels scored the 8-3 win over the Red Sox but the attention was on their top starting pitcher Garrett Richards. In the second inning, he was on his way over to first base trying to cover the back end of a possible doubleplay. He suddenly went went to the ground with a knee injury and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. Richards is 13-4 with a 2.53 ERA.

Meanwhile, Sox starter Clay Buchholz was rolling along until the fifth inning. Leading 3-0, Buchholz gave up five runs on four hits and two walks. The game seemingly was over at that point.

The Angels have now won the first three games of the series with the finale to be played tonight.
