No big surprise...Red Sox manager John Farrell announced today that Jon Lester will be the opening day starter against the Baltimore Orioles. The O's will start righthander Chris Tillman.

For Lester it will be his fourth consecutive opening day start and that's the most  consecutive starts since Pedro Martinez had seven straight from 1998-2004.

From the trivia department...Josh Beckett was the last guy not named Jon Lester to start an opening day game...and the last lefty to throw the first pitch of a season for the Sox was David Wells in 2005.
