Lester’s Last Start In Oakland?

Jon Lester will start for his Oakland A's today against the LA Angels. It is the last home game for the stumbling A's but is it Lester's last start in Oakland?

Could be. While it appears Lester and the A's will get one of the two wildcard spots, there is no guarantee that next Tuesday game will be a home game.

That playoff game is a one game winner-take-all event. Expect Lester to pitch that game but if the A's lose their season is over. And, his brief career with the A's is over.

Lester has been brilliant in Oakland green...10 starts, 6-3 record, 2.20 ERA, 63 K's,16 BB.

Combine his Red Sox and A's stats... 31 starts,16-10 record, 2.41 ERA, 213 K's in 212.2 innings.

How much are those numbers worth on the free agent market this winter? How much are they worth to Red Sox ownership?

NOTE:  The A's magic number to clinch a wildcard spot is 3...after today's game, the A's finish the season with 4 games in Texas...the AL wildcard game is next Tuesday.
