Xavier Lewis Leads Bangor Over Edward Little
The Bangor High School football team opened the season with a hard-fought 14-13 win over Edward Little.The Rams took advantage of a Red Eddie turnover in the first half converting it into the first score of the game. After Xavier Lewis came up with an interception he marched the team down the field and threw a 30 yard touchdown pass to Ozzie Degnan. The 2-point conversion made it 8-0 after the first quarter.
Edward Little scored just before the first half ended but elected to kick the extra point making it an 8-7 Bangor lead at the half.
The Rams extended the lead on their first drive of the second half on a 2-yard run by Alex Welch. The Red Eddies would come back with a touchdown of their own but miss the extra point.The 14-13 score would stand the rest of the way.
Alex Welch led the Rams with 72 rushing yards, Logan Lanham added 41 on 14 carries, all in the second half. Lewis completed 4 out of 8 passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.
