The first ever Class AA basketball tournament got underway in Augusta Wednesday and fans saw an upset as #6 Lewiston beat #3 Bangor 38-37.

Not only did the Blue Devils pull the upset, it was also their first tourney win since 2005.

With the game tied at 37 the Rams were in position for the final shot but threw the ball away as they threw it in under their own basket. The Devil's Kristina Blais grabbed the ball and was fouled as she went in for a shot. After missing the first free throw she sank the second to put Lewiston up by a point with 6.5 seconds left.

Bangor's Emily Gilmore got a shot off at the buzzer that missed and ended the Rams season at 10-9. Bangor managed just 3 points in the 4th quarter and were outscored 11-3 over the final 8 minutes. Katie Butler led the Rams with 12 points.

The #4 seed Deering won the other quarter final by a 50-43 score over Cheverus.
