Lowell Only Hockey East Team To Frozen Four
In a year in which UMass Lowell won its first ever Hockey East regular season championship and its first ever Hockey East Tournament championship, the River Hawks are the lone team to advance to the Frozen Four.
Lowell won the regional championship on Saturday night beating New Hampshire 2-0. Freshman goalie Connor Hellebuyck continued to play great to get the shutout and ended up stopping 59 of the 60 shots he faced in the two regional games.
Boston College not only lost its regional opener, the Eagles got blown out by Union College 5-1.
The Frozen Four takes place in Pittsburgh on April 11 and 13. Lowell will take on Yale who knocked off North Dakota 4-1 in its regional. You can hear live coverage of the National Championship April 13 on Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket.
