Maine Amateur Champ At Publinx

Ricky Jones won the Bunyan Amateur golf title in June, the Maine State Amateur Championship last week and now he's playing for the U.S. Public Links championship.

This grueling tournament starts with two rounds of stroke play today and tomorrow. The top 64 scorers will then begin match play competition on Wednesday. This year's event takes place in Lorton, Virginia.

Past winners of this national tournament include Brandt Snedeker and former Masters champ Trevor Immelman. The winner gets an invitation to play in the Masters tournament the following year.

Interestingly enough, the USGA voted to end this Public Links tournament after 2014. It will be replaced by a U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
