Southern Aroostook Wins Close Battle With Easton [GIRLS]

In a back-and-forth battle, the top-seed Southern Aroostook Warriors were finally able to pull ahead of the upset-minded No. 4 Easton Bears and earn a 48-42 semifinal win on Thursday night in Bangor.

The Warriors (19-1) will play the at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday against the defending regional champion Shead Tigers.

Kacy Daggett an eighth grader, and Kylie Vining, a sophomore, each scored 12 points for Southern Aroostook. Kassidy Mathers added seven points. >>GO TO STORY>>

Shead Overpowers Washburn To Advance [GIRLS]

The bigger and more seasoned Shead Tigers proved too much for the Washburn Beavers in Thursday night's semifinal match-up at the Cross Insurance Center.

The defending Class D North champs jumped out top an early lead and never looked back as the Tigers of Easport came away with a 51-29 win and another trip to the regional finals Saturday morning in Bangor.

Holly Preston led the veteran Shead team with 24 points. Sophomore Madison Greenlaw scored 10 points and junior Cassidy Wilder had nine points. >>GO TO STORY>>

Top-seed Southern Aroostook Advances With Win Over Central Aroostook [BOYS]

The top-seed Southern Aroostook Warriors advanced to the North region finals with a convincing win over No. 4 Central Aroostook at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Thursday.

Southern Aroostook (19-1) will play No. 2 Machias (19-1) on Championship Saturday.

The Panthers hung tough with the Warriors for the first half, trailing by only 8 points at the intermission. However, Southern Aroostook, of Dyer Brook, turned it on in the second half, pulling away to a 57-33 win. >>GO TO STORY>>

Machias Cruises Past Defending Champ Easton [BOYS]

The Machias Bulldogs broke open a huge lead in the third quarter, riding it to a convincing semifinal win over the defending regional champion Easton Bears.

The No. 2 Bulldogs outscored the No. 3 Bears 31-9 in the third quarter, finishing the game with a 68-37 win and a trip to the Class D Northern Maine finals on Saturday.
