The University of Maine Black Bears were picked to finish in 10th place in the Hockey East Conference Coaches’ Poll that was released Tuesday at Media Day in Boston.


Last season Maine was selected to place in
12th place in the conference during the poll, and ended the season in 11
th place out of 12 teams.  The 2017-18 roster for the Black Bears will feature five seniors, six juniors, ten sophomores, and ten freshmen. The Black Bears open up the regular season in conference play with UConn at the Alfond Arena on October 6
th and 7
th after an exhibition match-up on Sunday afternoon.  The Bears were picked to finish in 11th place in the
HEWBA poll over the weekend.

The UMaine women's ice hockey team was also selected in the last place in their Coaches' Poll, with 11 total votes. They start their season with Quinnipiac on Friday for a two game home series.
