An elementary school teacher has been placed on a 21-day leave of absence due to parental concerns about the teacher’s recent trip to Dallas, Texas.

Strong Elementary School posted a message on their website when numerous parents expressed concerns about a potential exposure of a staff member to the Ebola virus. The message states they have no information to suggest the staff member has been in contact with anyone who’s been exposed to Ebola, but the teacher’s mandatory leave of absence is a precautionary measure.

MSAD 58 pledges to remain in close contact with the Maine Department of Education and the Maine CDC in regard to this issue, and will follow all of the directives issued by these agencies. The teacher’s name has not been released.
