Maine Women Picked 6th, Men 8th
The America East Conference basketball coaches have picked the Maine women's team to finish in 6th place and the men's team to finish in 8th. The poll has Albany as the #1 women's team. Vermont is picked #1 on the men's side.
The two-time reigning champion Albany women's team received all eight votes for the #1 spot. The Vermont men got 6 of the 9 first place votes.
Coach Richard Barron and his Black Bears get the #6 ranking with co-rookie of the year Liz Wood returning for her sophomore year. The Bears will play many of their games at the new Cross Center in Bangor.
Coach Ted Woodward and his Black Bears men's team finished 11-19 last year. Only five players return with seven new players on the squad.
