NBA Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford has been cleared to return to coach the team after leaving the team in early December for medical reasons. His first game back will be next Wednesday vs Washington.

Clifford played his college ball at UMaine Farmington and started his coaching career at Woodland High School. The Charlotte Observer newspaper reports that Clifford has been dealng with severe headaches. It's an issue that pre-dates this season and doctors have working on on how to treat the condition.

The Hornets were 8-14 when he left the team on December 4th. Assistant coach Steve Silas has been interim head coach and the team has gone 8-10.

NOTE: Clifford is scheduled to meet with the media for the first time in Charlotte today.
