Bangor Police have released the identity of the man whose body was pulled from the Penobscot River on Sunday morning. Witnesses say the man fell into the water Saturday evening.

Sergeant Tim Cotton said in a press release that the State Medical Examiner's office has identified the man as 43-year-old William Bell of Glenburn. His body was recovered through the combined efforts of the Maine Marine Patrol and the Maine State Police dive team.

It was shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday when the Bangor Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a person falling into the Penobscot River near Front Street. The investigation is continuing and no further details have been released at this time.
