Boston Bruins winger Brad Marchand will be staying with Boston awhile longer after he agreed to an eight year extension with the team on Monday morning.


Marchand, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2016-17 season, currently has a deal that pays him around five million dollars on average a season.  He played in 77 games last year and notched 37 goals with 61 total points, both the highest marks of his career.

The Bruins will open up their preseason schedule tonight with an exhibition game with the Blue Jackets and will start the 2016-17 season on October 13th when the travel to face Columbus.
