Mark Rogers Becomes A Free Agent

Former Mt. Ararat HS star pitcher Mark Rogers will become a minor league free agent after the World Series in October. The Milwaukee Brewers have told Rogers they are taking him off their 40-man roster.

Rogers, now 27-years-old, was the 5th overall pick in the MLB draft back in 2004 after his senior year at Mt.A. He signed instead of going to college when the Brewers gave him a 2-milliion-dollar signing bonus.

His career has been marred by arm issues and he spent all of this season in the minors.

Under MLB baseball rules, Rogers becomes a free agent on the other side of the World Series. The Brewers say they haven't ruled out trying to re-sign him.
