Haley McLaughlin of Mattanawcook Academy has been named the McDonald's High School Athlete of the Week after throwing a no-hitter in game 1 of a doubleheader with Houlton.

McLaughlin, who won with 43 percent of the vote, collected three hits to help Mattanawcook win game 2 to complete the doubleheader sweep on May 1.

McLaughlin has helped Mattanawcook pick up a pair of wins this week as well. She pitched a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts in the Lynx's 7-6 triumph over Dexter on Monday, and her 16-strikeout performance helped lift Mattanawcook past Stearns 10-2 on Wednesday.

Leine McKechnie of Penobscot Valley High School and Charlie Spiegel of Searsport received McDonald's Athlete of the Week nominations as well.

McKechnie threw a no-hitter and hit a two-run home run in Penobscot Valley's 13-1 win over Searsport. She pitched a complete-game six-hitter and hit another homer against Stearns.

Spiegel singled, doubled, knocked in three runs and scored twice against Sumner. He and Ben Powell combined to strike out 12 in Searsport's 5-4 win over Penobscot Valley.
