Mayor Menino Welcomes Hockey East

It's a big day around Fenway Park. Not only are the Red Sox in first place heading into Labor Day Weekend, today Boston Mayor Tom Menino welcomes Hockey East teams to the park as plans for Frozen Fenway are released.

" Citi Frozen Fenway 2014" will be a two week series of outdoor hockey and public skating. Hockey East teams will play two doubleheaders. UMiane plays BU on Janaury 11th.

Today league officials, Red Sox officials and coaches from Hockey East teams will be at Fenway for a press conference.

The captain of the Notre Dame hockey team will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Red Sox vs White Sox game as a way to welcome the Irish to HE in this 30th year of the league.
