McDonald’s Athlete of the Week: Samantha Ireland

The votes have been counted and Samantha Ireland of Penobscot Valley High School is the winner of the McDonald's Athlete of the Week Award.Ireland claimed 73 percent of the nearly 1,000 votes submitted in the first of the weekly awards that will be handed out during the winter sports season.

Ireland helped the Howlers win their first four games of the season by scoring a total of 103 points in those games. Her 31 point performance last Saturday included the 1,000th point of her career.
