UMaine goalie Rob McGovern made 39 saves and the Black Bears got a 3-3 tie at Miami of Ohio Friday night. Maine has now played in three straight overtime games.

The Bears had three one-goal leads against Miami but three times the Red Hawks scored to tie the game.

The last one one was a powerplay goal with about  4:30 to play in the game and it forced the overtime.

Black Bear goals came from Peter Housakas, Mitch Fossier and Cedric Lecroix.

While McGovern was making 39 saves through 65 minutes of play, Miami goalie Ryan Larkin made 18.

The Black Bears are now 3-1-1. Miami is 1-1-2. Game two of the series is tonight.

NOTE; The game is a 3-3 tie in the eyes of the NCAA. The two teams did play another 3-on-3 overtime and then a shootout. Maine's Nolan Vesey scored to give the Bears a win - kind of. The NCHC, the conference Miami plays in, using this system to break ties.
