The top ranked MCI Huskies beat #4 seed Nokomis in the regular season finale but it was anything but easy. The Huskies won it in overtime 24-21 on a field goal and an interception in the end zone.

MCI jumped out to a 21-0 lead thanks to two short touchdown runs by Seth Bussell and a fumble recovery turned 80-yard TD run by Will Russell.

But in the final seconds of the first half, the Warriors began their comeback.

An Andrew Haining to Chance Graves TD strike made it 21-7. A 4-yard TD rush by David Wilson in the third quarter made it 21-14. A Haining to Graves 76-yard TD pass play tied the game at 21-21.

Then overtime.

MCI had the first possession and Kyle Burger-Roy kicked a 21-yard field goal to give the Huskies a 24-21 lead.

Nokomis tried a pass play for the win and it was intercepted and the game was over.

MCI finishes the regular season at 7-1 and will be the #1 seed in Class C North.

Nokomis finishes 4-4 and a #4 seed.

The two teams could meet in two weeks in a semi-final round of the playoffs.
