MDI 29 – Foxcroft Academy 6 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Trojans kicked off the 2015 Football season with a resounding 29-6 victory over the Foxcroft Academy Ponies at Oakes Field on Friday, September 4th.

Foxcroft Academy won the coin toss and deferred, so MDI took possession on their own 26 yard line with 11:55 left in the 1st Quarter. Using a 10 play drive, mixing in 7 rushing plays and 3 passing plays, MDI went 74 yards in 3:50 to score. The touchdown came on a 12 yard pass from Andrew Phelps to Taner Bickford.  The 2 point conversion was good when Phelps connected to Graham Good. That made the score 8-0.

MDI kicked off, and on the return, Foxcroft Academy fumbled the ball, and it was recovered by Max Dekoning at the Foxcroft Academy 25 yard line with 7:58 left in the 1st Quarter. 5 plays later Croix Albee scored from the 1 yard line. The point after attempt by Drew Rich sailed wide, and with 6:45 left in the 1st Quarter, the Trojans led 14-0.

MDI took over the ball on the Foxcroft 20 yard line with 8:11 remaining in the 1st half after another Pony fumble, this time recovered by Dylan Collin. It took 1 play, and MDI was in the end zone again, as Phelps connected with Croix Albee for the touchdown. The 2 point conversion was good, a Phelps to Graham Good reception, and MDI was up 22-0.

It would stay that way until 10:32 left in the game. Graham Good intercepted a Nick Dyer pass and ran it back all the way to the Foxcroft Academy 14 yard line. Four plays later, Taner Bickford ran into the end zone untouched. Drew Rich converted the extra point, and it was 29-0 MDI.

Foxcroft Academy scored with 20.8 seconds left in the game when Billy Brock ran in from 1 yard out. Nate Church's point after attempt was no good, and that made the final score 29-6 MDI.
