The MDI Boy's Baseball team improved to a perfect 4-0 on the young season with a 4-2 victory over the Washington Academy Raiders in Bar Harbor, Tuesday April 23rd on a cool and rainy afternoon.

Ben Walls pitched a complete game for the Trojans for the win, giving up 2 runs, allowing 4 hits and striking out 8.

 

MDI scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Jon Phelps reached first base on a W.A. error, and stole second base. Tom Paola hit a  RBI double. Ben Walls helped his own cause by knocking  in Paola with a double, and then Adam Gray scored Walls with a RBI single. After 3 innings MDI led 3-0.
Washington Academy came back in the next half inning and  scored 2 in the top of the 4th inning. Fred MacLean and Gage Feeney each hit singles and scored on an Andrew Hall single and then a fielders choice to cut MDI's lead and made the score MDI 3 WA 2.
MDI added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th inning when Jon Phelps led off the inning with a triple. Tom Paola then knocked in his 2nd RBI of the game with a single, making the score 4-2.

MDI (4-0) plays next on Saturday April 27th when they host  John Bapst at 11 AM. Washington Academy falls to 2-2 and next plays on Thursday, April 25th when they will host the Ellsworth Eagles at 4:30 PM.
