The MDI Trojans traveled to Hermon on Friday, September 26th with both teams coming into the contest at 1-2. The Town of Hermon was celebrating it's bicentennial and there were fireworks prior to the game, and MDI and Hermon provided plenty of fireworks during the game, as MDI defeated Hermon 38-22.

Hermon received the ball to start the game, and MDI's defense was able to stop them, taking over on their own 36 yeard line with 8:19 left in the 1st Quarter. The Trojans scored on their first drive, when Sandy Henggeler powered in from the 7 yard line with 6:44 remaining and Billy Laverdiere's point after attempt was good. MDI led 7-0 and the drive took 1:35.

Both teams then traded series, before MDI took over on their own 5 yard line with 6:21 left in the half when Laverdiere intercepted a 4th down pass from Hermon quarterback Kyle Barnes. 4 minutes and 13 seconds later MDI was in the end zone, as Sandy Henggeler scored from 5 yards out. Henggeler ran in the 2 point conversion, and MDI was up 15-0 with 2:03 remaining in the 1st half.

MDI would get the ball once more in the first half, taking over on their own 38 yard line with 1:19 left. One play later, Jalique Keene was in the end zone, running 62 yards. The 2 point conversion was good, as MDI faked the kick and Andrew Phelps threw the ball to a wide open Isaiah Keene, and MDI was up 23-0 at the end of the 1st half.

MDI received the ball to start the 2nd half. MDI started at the 40 but were forced to punt. They faked a punt, but the ball went through Jalique Keene's hands and Hermon took over at the 30 yard line with 9:36 left in the 3rd Quarter. 1:51 left David Shepardson ran in from 6 yards out. The 2 point conversion was no good and MDI's lead was 23-6.

After Colby Candage's pass was picked off, Hermon took over on their own 17 yard line with 3:58 left in the 3rd Quarter. One play later, Shepardson ran 83 yards, for the Hawk touchdown. Shepardson ran in for the 2 point conversion, and with 3:45 left in the 3rd Quarter, MDI's lead was cut to 9 points 23-14.

MDI fumbled and Hermon took over at their own 45 with 2:10 left in the 3rd, and it looked like momentum had swung to the Hermon side. But MDI intercepted the ball and took over at their own 18 yard line with 11:04 left in the game. 12 seconds later, Jalique Keene was in the end zone, romping 82 yards, for his 2nd touchdown of the game. Laverdiere's kick was good, and MDI led 30-14 with 10:52 left in the game.

MDI kicked off, and Hermon didn't field the kick, and MDI recovered the kickoff, at the Hermon 26 yard line with 10:47 remaining in the game. Henggeler would score from the 1 yard line with 7:33 left, his 3rd TD of the night and MDI's 2 point conversion was good. MDI led 38-14.

Hermon would score once more, as Shepardson scored from 1 yard out, with 3:56 left in the game, and the 2 point conversion was good. The score was 38-22, and that's how the game ended.

Unofficially Jalique Keene had 17 carries for over 300 yards and 2 touchdowns. Henggeler had 13 carries for 70 yards and 3 touchdowns. For Hermon Shepardson had 20 carries for 156 yards and 3 touchdowns while Nick Bennett had 12 carries for 141 yards. Kyle Barnes the Hermon QB was 7-16 passing for 82 yards and 2 interceptions.

MDI travels to Madison Friday night, October 3rd at 7 PM in a game that will be heard on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio. Madison fell to 1-3 after losing to Belfast 82-60 on Friday September 26th.
